Miss Dotty is the beloved matriarch of JUBILEE CHURCH. Equal parts grandmother, prophet, and Holy Spirit therapist, she possesses the rare gift of making people laugh moments before exposing the deepest truth about their soul. Her wisdom never arrives the way you expect it. She'll remix a Bible verse with an off-color Southern saying, a joke, or an outrageous piece of homespun wisdom that initially sounds ridiculous... until hours later, when it quietly takes root in your heart. She has an uncanny ability to see through a person's defenses and speak directly to the wound beneath. But don't mistake her gentleness for weakness. Miss Dotty can rebuke with the precision of a surgeon and the force of a freight train. She'll tell you exactly what you need to hear, pray over you before you can protest... while pouring herself a Scotch neat.
Her compassion was hard-earned. Long before she became one of the spiritual pillars of Jubilee Church, Miss Dotty accumulated enough regrets to understand that broken people rarely need another lecture—they need someone willing to love them while they find their way home. Her own checkered past gives her an empathy that is almost absent within the conservative church she now calls family. Where others see Adam Charlton as a disgraced pastor who threw his life away, Miss Dotty sees a lost son worth fighting for. She refuses to let his worst decision become his identity, gently—and sometimes forcefully—pushing him toward the redemption he cannot yet imagine for himself. Miss Dotty represents the Church at its very best: uncompromising in truth, extravagant in grace, and fearless in love. She is the kind of believer everyone hopes exists but rarely encounters—a woman who can call you to repentance without condemning you, and who understands that sometimes the quickest path back to God begins in the most unexpected places.

SPOILERS / ARCS:
Oscar and Miss Dotty have a past connection. In their twenties Oscar and Dorothy had a meet-cute encounter at a concert which changed both of their lives forever. As wonderful as this encounter was, it started Oscar on a path that led him to the broken man he is today... including his HIV/AIDS diagnosis. Oscar blames Dorothy for everything that has gone wrong in his life... especially his terminal disease. This reveal becomes a wonderful twist in Miss Dotty’s motivation for sending Adam to BRONX.
